I said “no guarantees!”
Guess what…There are no guarantees.
And I mean NONE.
You can train for years, have great headshots, a killer reel, solid representation, and do everything you're “supposed” to do... and still go months without booking something.
You can absolutely crush an audition and never hear back, You can get a callback and think, “Oh yeah, I got this,” and then nothing, You can sign with an agent and suddenly think everything is about to change... and it doesn't. Beleive me I have my own frustrations with agencies. but You can book something amazing and think, “THIS is the one that's going to open doors,” and then you're right back to auditioning again next week.
That's this career. like it’s most reputable for this. Don’t be surprised.
And I think that's one of the hardest things to accept about being an actor. We desperately want there to be a SECRET FORMULA. If I take this class, get these headshots, sign with this agent, move to this city, meet this casting director, THEN it'll happen.
Those things can absolutely help but you should train. You should have great materials. You should network. You should work your ass off and put yourself in the best possible position. and WHEN you DO get it. Show up on time, be respectable and know your damn lines.
All this to say; none of it comes with a receipt that says BOOKING GUARANTEED.
And I can't guarantee you “success” either. Honestly, nobody should.
First, you have to figure out what success even means to YOU. Is it booking your first short film? Getting paid to act? Getting representation? Being able to make a living doing this? Booking a co-star? Becoming a series regular? Those are all VERY different goals.
What I CAN guarantee is that I can help you get your shit together.
We can get your headshots, resume, reel, casting profiles, self-tapes and everything else ready so that when somebody looks you up, you look like you know what you're doing. We can also train you. So you’re actually good, and You look professional. You're prepared. And when an opportunity does show up, you're not scrambling to figure out what an Actors Access profile is or realizing your headshot is eight years old.
That's a huge part of what I want to do with Tucson Acting. I can't promise you the role. I can't promise you an agent. I can't promise that you're going to be famous. (Probably not but hey Fingers crossed for you big dawg)
I CAN help you make sure you're ready when those opportunities come.
Because there are SO many things happening on the other side of an audition that you'll never know about and have absolutely no control over. Maybe they wanted someone taller. Older. Younger. Maybe you look nothing like the actor they already cast as your brother. Maybe the director changed their mind. Maybe the role disappeared completely.
You can not control any of that.
You can control whether you're prepared. You can control your materials. You can control whether you keep training. You can control how you behave on set, how you treat people, and whether you're someone they want to work with again.
There are no guarantees in acting.
So figure out what success means to you, get yourself ready for it, and focus on the part you actually have control over.
